On a warm summer morning, the waters of the slow moving Pedernales River in Pedernales Falls State Park are still. This landscape is typical of the Texas Hill Country - rocks, trees, even a buzzard sitting on a rock. In these calm waters, native guadalupe bass sit and wait for their next meal and carp keep the river bottoms clean. This state park is one of my favorites to visit, and because of its proximity to my house, I'm able to make frequent visits out here for early mornings.
