Colorado Landscape Images - Butler Gulch Colors
This Colorado wildflower landscape was captured at Butler Gulch. The ridge in the distance is the Continetnal Divide. Colorful wildflowers such as pink elephants, paintbrush, and alpine daisies fill the meadow in late July and August. The trailhead for this location is near Empire along Highway 40 just before the first switchback that leads over Berthoud Pass to Winter Park. The trail itself is straightforward - climbing about 1000 feet in a little over two miles. You can continue pas this point to an old mine if you are so inclined. While I usually make this hike several times each summer, I usually get bogged down at his specific location, taken by the beauty of these wildflowers.
